This small building is a new Medical Centre in the village of Nógrádmarcal, Northern Hungary. The task was to place a new surgery and a residence for the doctor in between two already operating public buildings - the Nursery School and the Mayor's House - in a larger public plot.

The aim of the design is not only to create a building but also to rearrange the surrounding landscape to be capable for long term public use. The site between the existing buildings, in front of the new Medical Centre is designed to be a lively public space which can be used without any problems out of office hours. The complex is devided into two parts; the volume of the buildings is originated from the local traditional vernacular architecture.
floorplan
The design is consciously not following this architectural style, only considers the scales and the proportions of these buildings to meet the architectural context in a contemporary way. The architecture of the building seeks functionality and concentrates on the small details of the facades and the layout.
